Alumni Association Application

Alumni Association By-Laws

 Fellow Alumni,

Welcome to another edition of the Chopper Chant.  We would like to thank all of you who have joined the Alumni Association this year, and want to remind you that in order to maintain active membership in the association, dues will need to be paid again next year.  We would also like to encourage any of you who have not yet joined the Alumni Association to do so now.  Give back to the group that gave you so much!  We would also like to apologize for the lack of recent communication.  The e-board of the Alumni Association has been going through some changes, and of course, some life issues always arise.  We would like to thank you for your patience and understanding, and would like to encourage consistent communication from you as well.  We hope all is well with you and that you enjoy this issue of "The Chopper Chant."

Alumni Association On-line

In an effort to allow for more consistent communication and quick updates, the Alumni Association has created a web page!  Due to the fact that the Alumni Association does not have a budget for this type of communication, the website is hosted for free on MySpace.  You do not need a MySpace account to view the web site, nor do you need to sign-up for anything.  You may if you wish as MySpace accounts are free, but you do not have to if you do not want to. You can simply visit http://groups.myspace.com/lambdaomegazetaalumniassociation Our
goal for this web page is to easily communicate with members, and to allow members to easily keep in touch with each other.  If you do have a MySpace account, or decided to create one, you can join the Alumni Association group by clicking the "Join Group" button.  You do not need to do this to view any of the groups content.  From this web page, you may also download an application to join the Alumni Association as well as the Alumni Association By-Laws.  (If you are an Alumni of the Lambda Omega-Zeta Chapter of Lambda Chi Alpha, you may join the Alumni Association.  The application only provides us with your information, it is not something we review to determine if we should let you join)  The website also contains pictures of the FREE POLO SHIRT you will receive when you join the Alumni Association.  So please visit the website, feel free to post on the website (if you are a member of the group on MySpace), and enjoy.  The Active chapter also has a website, although it has not been updated for years, but it can be accessed at http://www.lxacmu.com.

Membership

Currently the Alumni Association has 17 paid members.  The Alumni Association also has many active members who are currently still in graduate school.  These members have their dues deferred until they have graduated.  This is done to urge and allow continued involvement in the Association, during times when it is impossible for them to hold a job.  We currently have members from Zetas 90's, 100's, 300's, 400's, 500's, and 600's. We do not currently have any members from the 200's, and very few members form the 90's or lower, 100's, and 300's.  We encourage members of all ages to join as this is a wonderful way to stay in touch and give back to the fraternal bond we all share.  Membership dues for a year are only $50, and when you first join, your receive a free polo shirt.  The colors offered are Maroon, White, Green, and Black.  Better images may be seen on the Alumni Association website.  As our funds are currently limited, due to membership, we are currently unable to offer many substantial membership benefits.  We are working on this, but we need your help.  We have begun to offer the polo shirt, and we would love to be able to put on events.  Any ideas or suggestions are more than welcome.  Please direct all questions and comments, about the Association, website, or "The Chopper Chant" to LOZAANEWSLETTER@hotmail.com.  Please consider joining the association, and help a brother out.

Active Chapter Update

As most of you undoubtedly know, the active chapter had a rather rough year.  Following the incident at the house, the chapter was placed on a low level probation by Lambda Chi International.  The chapter was restricted from consuming alcohol at the chapter house and from having parties or other social events at the chapter house.  They also hosted a risk management speaker, and had to conduct a ZAX session for all members and 2 other local chapters.  Initiation was held at MSU's house, and this was also part of the probation.  Sixteen new members were initiated in the fall, and  2 in the spring, with the last Zeta being 653. Fourteen members became Alumni this year: Ben Smith, Jim Neurohr, Kyle Grenfel, Patrick Anderson, Brian Raymer, Will Tomlinson, Adam Moyet, Jason Stachel, Drew Cool, Matt Mallard, Evan Chan, Dan Vokal, Mike Wayland, and AJ Bowen.

Despite it's rocky start, the chapter also made many strides this year.  The again completed philanthropies for Make-A-Wish foundation and the North American Food Drive.  They have also finally gotten Deerfield Village to approve and pay for improvements to the house.  They are as follows: 1) Carpet old part of upstairs in July 2008, 2)Install new vinyl @front entry & old kitchen, 3)Replace dishwasher in old kitchen, 4)replace broken towel bars, missing tub & sink stoppers in bathrooms, 5)Install 2nd set of washer/dryer in basement, 6)Remove carpet on stairs to basement & Install vinyl stair, treads, 7)Power wash outside of house, 8)Remove dining room light & put cover in ceiling, 9)paint white areas as needed, 10)replace light bulb in hall to west entry door by employee bathroom, 11)Remove vinyl at bottom of stairs,12)Clean up LOCKED storage room and wipe off furnace equipment 13)Install 5 yards of soil and slop away from building on East side, because water comes into house basement during hard rain, 14)Caulk basement window on the outside, 15)Oil all door hinges, 16)Install new shrubs/stones where needed.

These updates will definitely improve the look and feel of the house.

Finally, although this is not an event that was planned or sponsored by the Alumni Association, it is an event that was independently planned by some of our other Alumni brothers.  The Alumni Association would love to be involved in the future planning of these events, and would love to take part in them to further grow the organization.  The 2nd Annual Chopper Alumni Invasion is happening June 6th, 7th, and 8th in Mt. Pleasant.  If you are interested in attending you must e-mail either Tim Ellis or E.J. Rozek at tellis@30below.com, or ejrozek@ymcametrodetroit.org respectivelyPlease do so as soon as possible to allow for hotel reservations.  If you do attend, please make note that the chapter house is still dry and alcohol is not allowed at the house until the probation is lifted by Lambda Chi International.  We at the Alumni Association would like to commend these brothers for taking initiative and creating a fun event for brothers.  We hope you all have enjoyed this issue of "The Chopper Chant" and will take the time to join the Alumni Association and help us create and Alumni Association the Active chapter can be proud of.
