DearBrothers, Welcome to what will be my final issue of The
Chopper Chant. I have enjoyed writing The Chopper Chant, and working with
several Alumni to try and get the Alumni Association up and running, but it just
isn't working. Everyone gives me positive feedback and says they would love a
functioning Alumni Association, but then they take no action.
I have become discouraged and disheartened by
the lack of effort by our distinguished alumni base. We, the alumni of Lambda
Omega-Zeta, and the active chapter of Lambda Omega-Zeta deserve better, but
since we won't do it for ourselves, and we seem to keep waiting around for
someone else to do it, it never happens. I have been that someone else for too
long now, and without assistance, I too have failed. I have called out for help
many times, and few have come to answer it.
I appreciate those who have helped, have
joined, and have paid over the last 2 years that I have been running the Alumni
Association. Those brothers know who they are, and I truly appreciate them. I
love and appreciate the rest of you as well, but I wish you had put your hearts
into the Alumni Association, because we really could have gotten it going this
time.
For those of you who have paid and not yet
received shirts, I will still get those to you. I have not forgotten. For
those of you who have paid, I ask that you do not send in any more money, as
after I order the final batch of shirts, I will be closing the bank account and
sending money to the Active Chapter as the final Alumni Association donation. I
will also be closing the PayPal account that I set up, so please do not use the
website to pay. If someone wishes to take over the Alumni Association, please
contact me ASAP, so I can transfer the bank account to you, so you do not have
to set up a business account, and can continue to use the one already set up. I
will be closing the account on August 31, 2009, so please contact me before
then. If you do contact me, you can count on me for support in your endeavors,
but as for my role in leadership of the group, that time has
ended.
Over the last 2-3 years, we as an Alumni
Association have taken unprescedentd steps to get you all to join. We have
offered polo shirts, created a website, and maintained a newsletter that went
out fairly regularly. None of this, however, was enough. I will leave the
website up and running, so if someone wants to take over, they have that tool at
their disposal, but I will no longer be running the website.
I truly wish this had worked, and I hope
someday, we all take the initiative and work up the courage, desire, and effort
to have a functioning Alumni Association.
Summer Reunion
The Alumni Association held a reunion on June 13th, 2009 in
Mt. Pleasant. This had been advertised in a previous issue of The Chopper
Chant, by e-mails, and on the website. Around 15-20 brothers attended, and a
good time was had by all. Burgers, hotdogs, and beverages were provided by the
Alumni Association, and the leftovers were left for the Active Chapter. Thank
you all who came and participated.

Conclusion
I hope you all understand where I am coming from and know
that I harbor no ill will or resentment towards anyone, and I hope someone else
will take the reigns of the Alumni Association and everyone will support him. I
wish you all the best and I look forward to seeing many of you at Homecoming.
